Supporting access to savings and credit among caregivers/youth Early Childhood Development

LACCODEF recognizes the importance of early childhood to a child’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. Evidence suggests that the most critical period for nutrition and stimulation interventions is the first few years of a child’s life.

LACCODEF Early Childhood Development (ECD) programming takes a holistic approach encompassing health and nutrition aspects of a child and its mother, and promoting access to quality early learning opportunities outside a home environment. The program targets children from 0 – 5 years with the resultant outcome of ensuring infants and children are healthy and secure.

Promotion of quality home based and center based ECD care is at the center of LACCODEF’s ECD programming. LACCODEF works with community caregivers groups to deliver health, nutrition, parenting and economic strengthening interventions while at the same promoting access to quality early childhood learning. LACCODEF has constructed and supports 11 ECD centers across 3 districts of Dokolo, Kwania and Kole in Lango sub-region. LACCODEF through its ECD work strives to improve access and quality of early childhood development services in the region. This work has been done mainly with support from ChildFund International and funding from the child sponsorship program.
